Located in the vibrant heart of Shibuya, Hammock is a charming café that beckons with its cozy atmosphere and traditional Japanese flair. As you walk through its doors, you’ll be enveloped by an inviting ambience that perfectly balances nostalgia and modernity, making it an ideal retreat from the energetic hustle of the surrounding streets.

This hidden gem offers a delightful array of both Japanese and Western-style treats, with a menu that frequently features crowd favorites. Many visitors rave about the impeccable selection of cakes, particularly the melon cream cake. Its delicate flavor profile merges the essence of fresh melon with a light, airy cream, tantalizing your taste buds while bringing a refreshing twist to your dessert experience.

The drinks here complement the food beautifully. While some guests have noted that the beverages are merely okay, they serve as a nice accompaniment to the star of the show: the desserts. The comforting atmosphere is enhanced by the caring staff, who, despite potential language barriers, are truly committed to making your experience enjoyable. One visitor, Julian Williams, encapsulated the spirit of Hammock wonderfully, praising the kindness of the staff and the overall delightful experience, even if the prices lean slightly above average.

Hammock is not just about food; it’s about the feel. Its comfortable seating makes it an inviting spot for those looking to take a breather after exploring Shibuya’s bustling streets. Sonia Chang described it as a place that “ticked off my list of wanting to visit an old classic Japanese café,” and with its traditional decor and calming vibe, it’s easy to see why. Whether you’re looking for a quiet nook to recharge or a spot to indulge in delicious cake, Hammock offers that perfect blend of relaxation and culinary charm.

However, do keep in mind that Hammock is a cash-only establishment—a detail that some visitors found a bit inconvenient. Despite this minor setback, the overwhelmingly positive feedback from customers, like SChan and Khanh Dinh, emphasizes that this quaint café is a must-visit spot in Shibuya, perfect for both locals and tourists alike.

Visit Hammock for an authentic taste of traditional Japanese café culture, where every bite is crafted with care and every moment spent feels special.

We chanced upon this cafe whilst taking a rest from all the walking, it was a pleasant surprise. On a whole its a very traditional local cafe that's probably been around for awhile. Menu's are mainly Japanese so a translation app is needed. We tried mainly the drinks and cakes, the drinks were okay but the cakes were fantastic. Especially the melon cream cake which tastes of really fresh and light cream with pieces of really sweet melon, the strawberry cake was good too but we definitely recommend the melon cream cake While the staff do not speak English they really welcoming and enthusiastic about introducing what the cafe has to offer and smooth out any misunderstanding kudos to that. Update- went back for lunch and tried the club sandwiches and meat sauce pasta, while the sandwiches were decent I would go with their pasta dishes that are cooked well and flavourful

Absolutely amazing food and dessert. The only negative point is that they only accept cash.

Loved this little cafe! Its located right at the heart of shibuya. Food/sweets were great and I loved the staff. They were all so kind even though there was a language barrier. Food is a bit more on the pricey side but regardless it was still good and well worth it! If you get the chance go and take a look for yourself!

This place is a hidden gem at the heart of Shibuya! We couldn’t find a cafe to sit down and grab a bite, everywhere was full and you feel flustered trying to find a table, but this place was not packed so we gave it a try. Seats were comfortable, service was on spot and it actually ticked off my list of wanting to visit an old classic Japanese cafe with their delicious Jap style western food. We used google translate to order the food, the staffs are friendly and more than willing to help. Will definitely go for a 2nd visit next time!

The service lady has done a wonderful job as humble and kindly. Work very hard and try the everything to communicate with me as we don’t speak Japanese.

This cafe is a hidden gem that it’s well located, has great cakes and good chairs and tables, yet somehow not busy. Their pasta was ok, but considering the location and the space, it’s still a great value especially for a set. Their millefeuille is a must try that they start making it after your order and it’s very good. It’s not easy to find some relaxing space around here, but this is a great one.
